The vision for "God in the Marketplace" Ministry began when God touched my heart, and led me to Spain in 1999.
I knew God was speaking to me, that my business and home would need to be sold, and 6 months later it was done.
As always in GOD's Perfect Plan, I wasn't sure why HE was sending me to Spain, but there I found myself, thousands of miles from home in the Mediterranean , visiting numerous foreign cities.
My prayers drew me to water and The Mediterranean Sea, as I found myself in Torremolinos, Malaga, Spain. (See Map)
Torremolinos, being a City in Spain located in Costa del Sol in the Mediterranean just westward of Malaga, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, and has a long and varied history, as attested by the numerous Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Arab vestiges found in the area.
The population of the City of Málaga proper was 558,285 as of 2005, the population of the metropolitan area (urban area plus satellite towns) is 1,100,082, it ranks as the fifth largest metropolitan area in Spain.
Málaga is surrounded by mountains, lying in the southern base of the Axarquía hills, and two rivers, the Guadalmedina - the historic center is located on its left bank - and the Guadalhorce, which flows west of the city into the Mediterranean.
Contrary to its past years slow turn development, today it has become one of the prime tourist destinations of Spain. In fact, the tourism industry is one of the reasons why Torremolinos has reached its growth in development.
At this time The Holy Spirit spoke to me, and I was instructed to "Break Up Fallow Ground".
(12) Sow for yourselves according to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God); reap according to mercy and loving-kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, to inquire for and of Him, and to require His favor, till He comes and teaches you righteousness and rains His righteous gift of salvation upon you.
So for one year, and through Four New Seasons of Prayer and Fasting, HIS Word was opening new and incredible life moving experiences for me.
My Ultimate Revelation occurred when GOD spoke to me, with instructions to open a café, a small business to serve and to reach HIS lost.
Most didn’t understand the mixing of business with GOD; however I was reminded by
(11) And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, Why does your Master eat with tax collectors and those [preeminently] sinful?
(12) But when Jesus heard it, He replied, Those who are strong and well (healthy) have no need of a physician, but those who are weak and sick.
(13) Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, [a]readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).
When I opened the café in Alhaurin El Grande, a town located in the Province of Málaga in Andalusia in southern Spain, 30 km. from the provincial capital, and at 239 meters above the sea level in one of the most picturesque villages in the Guadalhorce river valley, with a population of approxmently 25,000 Souls.
This tiny cafe had become much more than a business serving food to its patrons; it was now a Vessel for GOD, and place of ministry, to serve Our LIVING GOD, by leading HIS Children to Our Savior JESUS CHRIST, by praying for their needs in a business environment!
There is no doubt; my time served will always be among the most incredible experience of my life.
I am reminded of a most memorable event that occurred on one gorgeous Spirit filled day, when a man came into the café, as he had heard it was "GOD's Café" and it's proprietor was known to pray for people.
As it turned out, his horse had been lost for days, so he requested that I would pray for his horse to return, and so together we prayed and within an hour he received a call the horse had been found.
All of my experiences were life changing and it all happened in the marketplace, a café, a quaint place where souls were both served and saved, with lives being changed forever, with weekly discipling classes and Sunday meetings.
